Correspondence with Epworth University
Follow the conversation that H.J.L. Stark and Paul S. St. Clair, Epworth University football manager, had through letters as they discuss a possible football game between the universities.
December 10, 1909
Letter from Paul S. St. Clair to H.J.L. Stark inquiring about a football game between Epworth University and the University of Texas in Oklahoma City either October 28th or 29th or November 4th or 5th. Epworth University will be dedicating the new athletic field during the game since it is believed a football game with the University of Texas would bring a larger crowd. St. Clair goes on to ask if the dates he provided are not available to give him a list of available dates. St. Clair also agrees to a two-year contract with the University of Texas with a football game in Austin in 1911.
January 11, 1910
Letter from H.J.L. Stark to Paul S. St. Clair stating he has not decided yet on what trips the football team will take. Stark goes on to say if he does decide to come to Oklahoma and finds an open date the University of Texas would be please to offer Epworth University the opportunity to make a date for a football game.
January 27, 1910
Letter from Paul S St. Clair to H.J.L. Stark mentions that in The Daily Oklahoman states that the University of Texas is scheduled to have a football game with Oklahoma University on November 5th. St. Clair asks if the University of Texas would give Epworth University three or four days before or after their football game with Oklahoma University or better would be the Saturday before or the Friday after the game. If the University of Texas would choose Friday, November 11th, St. Clair offers to have the University of Texas as their guests at the Oklahoma University vs Kansas University game on Saturday, November 12th.
