Jack McAuliffe
Jack McAuliffe was born in Cork, Ireland on March 24, 1866. At the age of 5, McAuliffe immigrated to the United States, and he spent his childhood in Maine. After a short amateur career in boxing, McAuliffe turned professional in 1883. Known as “The Napoleon of the Ring,” McAuliffe won the lightweight championship against Billy Dacey in 1888.
With his strength and speedy reflexes, McAuliffe was the winner in 30 ofhis 36 fights. He retired in 1897 and is remembered as being one of the twelve fighters in boxing history who retired with no losses. He passed away in 1937 at his home in New York City.
